AI-suggested
A patch fixing this vulnerability is available in version 0.0.4; users should upgrade to this version once released. Workarounds include restricting Secret creation and modification in namespaces where the osac-console-proxy-secret-reader RoleBinding is deployed to trusted principals only, switching to local VM cluster mode to avoid kubeconfig Secret usage, and deploying admission webhooks or OPA policies to reject Secrets containing exec or auth-provider stanzas in kubeconfig data within affected namespaces.
Description
A vulnerability in the osac-console-proxy component of the osac-operator allows remote code execution and server-side request forgery (SSRF). The console-proxy improperly processes kubeconfig data from Kubernetes Secrets without sanitizing exec plugin configurations, enabling execution of arbitrary processes with the proxy's service account privileges. This affects deployments using remote or auto VM cluster modes. A patch is available in version 0.0.4.
