Upgrade Twisted to version 26.10.0rc1 or later, where this issue is fixed. No other mitigation or workaround is indicated. Since this is a server-side memory exhaustion issue triggered before authentication, patching is the recommended and effective remediation.
Description
A vulnerability in Twisted's IRC protocol implementation prior to version 26.10.0rc1 allows unauthenticated connections to cause unbounded memory growth by continuously sending bytes without a line feed. This can exhaust server memory and cause denial of service by dropping all users. The issue is fixed in version 26.10.0rc1.
