AI-suggested
A fix is available and has been released in Python versions 3.9.21, 3.10.16, and 3.11.4. Users and organizations should upgrade affected Python versions to these fixed releases to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
Python's urllib.parse.urlsplit() and urlparse() functions had improper validation of bracketed hosts, allowing non-IPv6/IPvFuture hosts to be accepted. This non-conformance with RFC 3986 could potentially enable Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) if a URL is processed by multiple parsers. The issue affects multiple Python versions and has been fixed in recent releases.
