AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated packages for cockpit-files in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.8 to fix these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the security update as described in the Red Hat advisory RHSA-2026:84595 and the referenced update article (https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258). No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official update.

Description

Two security vulnerabilities have been identified in the cockpit-files component of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9. These vulnerabilities involve arbitrary file ownership changes and symlink race conditions that can be exploited by local attackers to hijack file ownership. Red Hat has released an update to address these issues in version 9.8 of the affected distributions.
