AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated Flatpak packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6 Extended Update Support and related variants that fix these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the security update as described in the Red Hat advisory RHSA-2026:95061 and the referenced update article (https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258). No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official patch.

Description

Two security vulnerabilities were identified in Flatpak, a Linux system for sandboxed desktop applications. The first (CVE-2026-97023) allows arbitrary file deletion with root privileges via path traversal in the deploy directory export/bin. The second (CVE-2026-97024) permits arbitrary file write with root privileges via path traversal in the deploy directory files/etc. These issues affect Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6 Extended Update Support and related variants. Red Hat has issued an important security advisory and released updates to address these vulnerabilities.
