Technical Analysis

This advisory addresses three denial-of-service vulnerabilities in the .NET 8.0 framework: CVE-2024-30105 affects System.Text.Json, CVE-2024-35264 affects ASP.NET Core 8, and CVE-2024-38095 affects parsing of X.509 Content and ObjectIdentifiers. These vulnerabilities could be exploited to cause application or service disruption. Red Hat has released patched versions of the .NET SDK (8.0.107) and Runtime (8.0.7) for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 to mitigate these issues.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities may result in denial-of-service conditions, causing affected applications or services to become unresponsive or crash. There is no indication of remote code execution or data compromise. No known exploits in the wild have been reported at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

Red Hat has provided official fixes in .NET SDK version 8.0.107 and Runtime version 8.0.7 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8. Users should apply these updates promptly to remediate the vulnerabilities. Detailed update instructions are available in the Red Hat advisory at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigations are specified by the vendor.
