Red Hat has released updated fence-agents packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 and related variants that address this vulnerability. Users should apply the security update as described in the Red Hat advisory (RHSA-2026:58546) to remediate the issue. Since a fix is available, applying the official patch is the recommended mitigation.
Description
A denial of service vulnerability (CVE-2026-59886) exists in the pyasn1 component used by the fence-agents packages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2. The fence-agents provide scripts for remote power management in cluster environments, allowing forced restart and removal of failed nodes. This vulnerability is triggered by crafted ASN.1 REAL values causing a denial of service.
