Red Hat has released updated fence-agents packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 Extended Update Support that fix this vulnerability. Users should apply the security update as described in the Red Hat advisory (RHSA-2024:4427) to remediate the issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official update.
Description
A security update for the fence-agents packages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 addresses a vulnerability in the jinja2 component where keys containing non-attribute characters are accepted (CVE-2024-34064). The fence-agents scripts manage remote power control for cluster nodes, allowing failed or unreachable nodes to be forcibly restarted and removed from clusters. This update is rated as having moderate security impact by Red Hat.
