Red Hat has released updated GIMP packages that fix these vulnerabilities. Users of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 Update Services for SAP Solutions should apply the security update provided in advisory RHSA-2026:80509 promptly. Detailed update instructions are available at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official patch.
Description
Multiple security vulnerabilities have been identified and fixed in the GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) software, including heap and stack buffer overflows, integer overflows, and arbitrary code execution issues in various file parsing components such as PNG, PSD, TIF, SGI, and FITS plugins. These vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution or cause memory corruption when processing crafted image files. Red Hat has issued an important security update for GIMP in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 Update Services for SAP Solutions to address these issues.
