AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated glibc packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 to address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the security update as detailed in the Red Hat advisory RHSA-2024:3588 and the referenced article https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. Applying these official patches is the recommended mitigation. No alternative or temporary mitigations are indicated.
Description
Multiple security vulnerabilities have been identified in the GNU C Library (glibc) packages used by Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. These include an out-of-bounds write in iconv that may lead to remote code execution, a stack-based buffer overflow in the netgroup cache, null pointer dereferences, and other issues affecting the netgroup cache daemon. These vulnerabilities impact core system libraries critical for Linux system functionality.
