AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated glibc packages that address these vulnerabilities. Users of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 and related products should apply the provided security update as detailed in the Red Hat advisory (https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258). Applying this update mitigates the risks associated with the described vulnerabilities. No additional mitigations are specified or required beyond applying the official update.
Description
Red Hat has issued a security advisory for glibc packages addressing multiple vulnerabilities including stack overflow, denial of service, privilege escalation, and information disclosure. These vulnerabilities affect core system libraries critical for Linux functionality. The update fixes issues such as a stack overflow in nscd causing degraded DNS resolution, denial of service via long search domain configuration, a TOCTOU race condition in the dynamic loader allowing privilege escalation and arbitrary code execution, and a local stack-based buffer overflow leading to denial of service and information disclosure.
