Description

Two security vulnerabilities have been identified in GVFS, the GNOME Desktop Virtual File System layer used for accessing local and remote data via various protocols. The first is a heap-based buffer overflow in the SFTP component (CVE-2026-84268). The second is a race condition in the gvfs-admin socket ownership that can lead to local root privilege escalation (CVE-2026-88924). Red Hat has issued an important security advisory with updates available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 and related products to address these issues.
