AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated hplip packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8 variants that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the security update as described in Red Hat advisory RHSA-2026:48959 and the referenced article https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. Applying these updates will remediate the vulnerabilities. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

The hplip packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux contain drivers for Hewlett-Packard printers and multi-function peripherals. Two security vulnerabilities have been identified: CVE-2026-8632, which allows privilege escalation and arbitrary code execution via operating system command injection, and CVE-2026-8631, which allows arbitrary code execution and privilege escalation via an integer overflow in the hpcups component. Red Hat has issued an important security advisory with updates to address these issues in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8 variants.
