AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated hplip packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 and related variants that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the security update as described in the Red Hat advisory (https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258) to remediate the issues. Since an official fix is available, applying the update is the recommended mitigation.

Description

The hplip packages, which provide drivers for Hewlett-Packard printers and multi-function peripherals on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, contain two security vulnerabilities. These include a privilege escalation and arbitrary code execution vulnerability via operating system command injection (CVE-2026-8632) and another vulnerability involving arbitrary code execution and privilege escalation via an integer overflow in the hpcups component (CVE-2026-8631). Red Hat has issued an important security update addressing these issues for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 and related variants.
