What to do

AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated iscsi-initiator-utils packages that fix these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the security update for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6 Extended Update Support and related product variants as detailed in the Red Hat advisory RHSA-2026:60428. The vendor provides official patches and instructions at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. Applying these updates will remediate the authentication bypass and privilege escalation issues.

Description

Two security vulnerabilities were addressed in the iscsi-initiator-utils packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6. These include an authentication bypass in the iscsiuio control socket (CVE-2026-44944) and a privilege escalation via path traversal (CVE-2026-44943). The update also includes bug fixes and enhancements unrelated to security. The vulnerabilities affect the open-iscsi component used for managing iSCSI protocol communications.
