What to do

AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated iscsi-initiator-utils packages that address these vulnerabilities. Users of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 and related variants should apply the security update as detailed in Red Hat advisory RHSA-2026:62029 and the referenced article https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. Applying this update will remediate the authentication bypass and privilege escalation issues. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.

Description

Red Hat has issued a security advisory for iscsi-initiator-utils addressing two vulnerabilities in the open-iscsi component: an authentication bypass in the iscsiuio control socket (CVE-2026-44944) and a privilege escalation via path traversal (CVE-2026-44943). These vulnerabilities affect the iscsi-initiator-utils packages used for managing the iSCSI protocol, which facilitates distributed disk access over IP networks. The update is rated as having an Important security impact by Red Hat and is available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 and related variants.
