What to do
AI-suggested
Red Hat has released an updated kernel package that addresses these vulnerabilities. Users of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.8 and related variants should apply the update promptly. A system reboot is required for the update to take effect. Red Hat recommends treating all kernel errata as security-relevant and advises against delaying updates to reduce exposure to these vulnerabilities.
Description
Red Hat has issued an important security advisory addressing multiple vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel packages, which form the core of the operating system. The update fixes several security issues including race conditions, use-after-free bugs, integer overflows, and reference handling errors across various kernel subsystems such as UDP, FUSE, networking handshake, IPVS, SELinux, KVM, USB, SMB client, VFIO, RAID5, KEYS encryption, and netfilter flowtable. These vulnerabilities could impact system stability and security. The advisory also includes bug fixes and enhancements to prevent kernel panics caused by out-of-bounds and use-after-free reads. The update applies to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.8 and related variants and requires a system reboot to take effect.
