Published: 12/18/2025 (12/18/2025, 10:20:07 UTC)
Source: GCVE Database
Vendor/Project: Red Hat Product Security
Product: Red Hat

Description

A vulnerability has been identified in keylime where an attacker can exploit this flaw by registering a new agent using a different Trusted Platform Module (TPM) device but claiming an existing agent's unique identifier (UUID). This action overwrites the legitimate agent's identity, enabling the attacker to impersonate the compromised agent and potentially bypass security controls.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability CVE-2025-13609 in Keylime's Registrar component allows an attacker to take over identities by registering duplicate UUIDs. This flaw could undermine the integrity of the attestation process by enabling unauthorized identity claims. Red Hat has released an important security update for Keylime packages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.0 Extended Update Support to remediate this issue. The advisory references Red Hat Bugzilla 2416761 and provides updated package versions (7.12.1-2.el10_0.4) for multiple architectures. No CVSS score is provided in the advisory.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability enables an attacker to perform identity takeover within the Keylime attestation framework by exploiting duplicate UUID registration. This could compromise the trustworthiness of the remote boot attestation and runtime integrity measurements, potentially allowing unauthorized entities to impersonate legitimate nodes or systems. The severity is rated as high by the source, indicating significant security impact if exploited.

Mitigation Recommendations

Red Hat has released updated Keylime packages (version 7.12.1-2.el10_0.4) for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.0 Extended Update Support that fix this vulnerability. Users should apply these official updates promptly to remediate the issue. For detailed update instructions, refer to Red Hat article https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No alternative mitigations or workarounds are indicated in the advisory.
