AI-suggested
Red Hat has released an updated libkcapi package rebased to version 1.5.1 that fixes the identified security issues. Users of affected Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 variants should apply this update promptly. Details on applying the update are available in the Red Hat advisory at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No other mitigation actions are specified or required beyond applying the official update.
Description
Multiple security vulnerabilities were identified in libkcapi, a user-space library that interfaces with the Linux kernel crypto API. These include IV reuse causing cipher state reset across chunk boundaries (CVE-2026-71225), memory corruption via uncanceled asynchronous I/O requests on error (CVE-2026-71226), and an infinite loop denial of service due to unhandled timeout returns in asynchronous I/O processing (CVE-2026-71227). These issues affect Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 and related variants. A security update rebasing libkcapi to version 1.5.1 addresses these vulnerabilities along with other bug fixes and enhancements.
