AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated libpq packages addressing these vulnerabilities. Users of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 Extended Life Cycle and AUS variants should apply the security updates as detailed in Red Hat advisory RHSA-2026:44420 and the referenced article https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. Applying these official patches is the recommended remediation. No additional mitigation steps are specified or required beyond applying the update.

Description

Multiple security vulnerabilities have been identified in the libpq package, the PostgreSQL client library used to connect client programs to PostgreSQL servers. These include an integer overflow causing out-of-bounds write, a symlink following issue leading to operating system account hijack, a buffer overflow allowing server superuser to overwrite client stack memory, and a covert timing channel enabling credential recovery. Red Hat has issued an important security advisory with updates addressing these issues for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 variants.
