AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated libpq packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8 variants that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply these official security updates promptly to remediate the issues. For detailed update instructions, refer to the Red Hat advisory at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the provided patches.
Description
Multiple security vulnerabilities have been identified and fixed in the libpq package, the PostgreSQL client library used to connect client programs to PostgreSQL servers. These include an integer overflow causing out-of-bounds writes, a symlink following issue leading to operating system account hijack, a buffer overflow allowing server superuser to overwrite client stack memory, and a covert timing channel vulnerability in MD5 password comparison enabling credential recovery. Red Hat has released security updates addressing these issues in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8 variants.
