Description

Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform is Red Hat's cloud computing Kubernetes application platform solution designed for on-premise or private cloud deployments. This advisory contains the container images for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.19.0. See the following advisory for the RPM packages for this release: https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHEA-2025:2851 Space precludes documenting all of the container images in this advisory. See the following Release Notes documentation, which will be updated shortly for this release, for details about these changes: https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/openshift_container_platform/4.19/html/release_notes/ Security Fix(es): * golang.org/x/crypto/ssh: Misuse of ServerConfig.PublicKeyCallback may cause authorization bypass in golang.org/x/crypto (CVE-2024-45337) * golang.org/x/net/html: Non-linear parsing of case-insensitive content in golang.org/x/net/html (CVE-2024-45338) * golang.org/x/oauth2/jws: Unexpected memory consumption during token parsing in golang.org/x/oauth2/jws (CVE-2025-22868) * golang.org/x/crypto/ssh: Denial of Service in the Key Exchange of golang.org/x/crypto/ssh (CVE-2025-22869) * baremetal-operator/apis: Bare Metal Operator (BMO) can expose any secret from other namespaces via BMCEventSubscription CRD (CVE-2025-29781) * go-jose: Go JOSE's Parsing Vulnerable to Denial of Service (CVE-2025-27144) For more details about the security issue(s), including the impact, a CVSS score, acknowledgments, and other related information, refer to the CVE page(s) listed in the References section. All OpenShift Container Platform 4.19 users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages and images when they are available in the appropriate release channel. To check for available updates, use the OpenShift CLI (oc) or web console. Instructions for upgrading a cluster are available at https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/openshift_container_platform/4.19/html-single/updating_clusters/index#updating-cluster-cli.

Technical Analysis

This Red Hat security advisory for OpenShift Container Platform 4.19.0 addresses several vulnerabilities, including CVE-2024-45337 which involves misuse of ServerConfig.PublicKeyCallback in golang.org/x/crypto/ssh potentially causing authorization bypass. Other fixes include non-linear parsing issues in golang.org/x/net/html (CVE-2024-45338), unexpected memory consumption during token parsing in golang.org/x/oauth2/jws (CVE-2025-22868), denial of service in the key exchange of golang.org/x/crypto/ssh (CVE-2025-22869), and exposure of secrets via Bare Metal Operator's BMCEventSubscription CRD (CVE-2025-29781). Additional fixes address denial of service in go-jose parsing (CVE-2025-27144). The advisory provides updated container images and references detailed release notes and upgrade instructions. Users are advised to upgrade to the fixed versions to address these vulnerabilities.

Potential Impact

The vulnerabilities fixed in this update can lead to authorization bypass, denial of service, and unauthorized exposure of secrets within the OpenShift Container Platform environment. Exploitation could allow attackers to bypass authentication mechanisms, cause service disruptions, or access sensitive information across namespaces. The security impact is rated as important (high severity), indicating significant risk if left unpatched.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.19.0 updated packages and container images. Users should upgrade their clusters to the updated release using the OpenShift CLI (oc) or web console following the official upgrade instructions provided by Red Hat. No additional mitigations are specified beyond applying the official update. The vendor advisory confirms the availability of the fix and recommends prompt upgrade to these updated packages and images.
