Red Hat has released updated packages and low-latency images for OpenShift Container Platform 5.0 that fix this vulnerability. The vendor manages remediation through these official updates.
Description
CVE-2026-84445 is a denial of service vulnerability in gRPC-Go servers created with xds.NewGRPCServer(). A remote client can send a malformed RPC request missing required :authority or Host headers, triggering an index-out-of-bounds panic that crashes the server process. This affects deployments using xDS-managed gRPC servers and can be unauthenticated in some cases. Standard gRPC servers without xDS routing are not vulnerable. Environments enforcing mutual TLS require authentication before the vulnerable stage, limiting exploitation to authenticated peers. Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 5.0 users are advised to upgrade to updated packages containing fixes for this issue.
