Red Hat has released updated OpenTelemetry Collector packages that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the security update for OpenTelemetry Collector on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6 Extended Update Support and related variants as described in the Red Hat advisory (RHSA-2026:95014). Details on applying the update are available at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
Multiple denial of service vulnerabilities and a man-in-the-middle vulnerability have been identified in the Red Hat build of OpenTelemetry Collector components. These issues affect various Go language libraries used by the collector, including net/http, crypto/tls, net/textproto, and crypto/x509. The vulnerabilities include denial of service via crafted HTTP Range headers, excessive HTTP/2 SETTINGS frames, memory limit bypass in multipart form parsing, and man-in-the-middle attacks via untrusted intermediate certificates. Red Hat has released security updates addressing these issues for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6 Extended Update Support and related variants.
