AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated PostgreSQL 13 packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the official security update as detailed in the Red Hat advisory (https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258) to remediate these issues. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the provided patches.
Description
Multiple security vulnerabilities affecting PostgreSQL 13 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 have been addressed in an important security update. These include an integer overflow causing out-of-bounds write (CVE-2026-6473), operating system account hijack via symlink following (CVE-2026-6475), a buffer overflow in libpq allowing server superuser to overwrite client stack memory (CVE-2026-6477), and credential recovery via a covert timing channel in MD5 password comparison (CVE-2026-6478). The update fixes these issues to prevent potential privilege escalation, memory corruption, and credential leakage.
