Users should monitor Red Hat advisories for future updates. Headless-only environments using openjdk-headless without java.desktop are not affected. Customers with Red Hat Technical Account Managers can seek guidance directly. No specific mitigations are recommended at this time.

Description

A buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the giflib library's EGifGCBToExtension function, which processes Graphics Control Extension (GCE) blocks. This flaw allows a remote attacker to overwrite an existing GCE block without proper size validation, potentially causing a denial of service (DoS) on affected systems. The issue specifically affects Red Hat AI Inference Server Model Optimization Tools 3.2.2 (cuda). Headless environments using openjdk-headless are not affected as they do not include the vulnerable code. No fix is currently available that meets Red Hat's criteria for deployment and stability.
