AI-suggested

No effective mitigation or patch is currently available that meets Red Hat's criteria for ease of deployment, applicability, or stability. Until a fix is provided, caution is advised when running applications that use the requests library in environments where local attackers may have access to the temporary directory.

Description

A vulnerability exists in the requests HTTP library used by Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI, specifically in the extract_zipped_paths() function that loads Certificate Authority bundles. A local attacker can exploit this by placing a malicious CA bundle in the system's temporary directory, causing the application to load the malicious file instead of the legitimate one. This can lead to bypassing security controls and compromising integrity.
