AI-suggested
Since exposure requires repeated parsing of attacker-controlled file paths, limiting such exposure may reduce risk. Red Hat recommends applying updates when available and consulting their security team for further guidance.
Description
A vulnerability in OpenTelemetry-Go schema parsing (before version 0.0.17) causes a file descriptor leak in the ParseFile function. This leak can exhaust file descriptors in long-running Go processes that repeatedly parse schema files, potentially leading to denial of service. The issue affects Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs including Kubernetes 1.35 packages. No direct fix or mitigation meeting Red Hat's criteria is currently available.
