AI-suggested
A fixed update is available in Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs, specifically golang1.27 version 1.27.1-2.hum1 and related packages. Users should apply this update to remediate the vulnerability. Since the fix is available, no additional mitigation steps are required beyond updating to the fixed packages.
Description
A denial of service (DoS) vulnerability exists in golang.org/x/text's Nickname profile used in Red Hat Hardened Images. An attacker can cause an application panic and crash by submitting specially crafted input that triggers an out-of-bounds slice indexing error when transforming text into an undersized buffer. This affects applications that utilize the Nickname profile for user string normalization or validation with small buffers. The vulnerability does not affect applications that do not use this profile or that allocate sufficiently sized buffers.
