AI-suggested

Red Hat advises that their products are not affected by this vulnerability and no action is required for Red Hat Enterprise Linux or OpenShift Container Platform users. For Windows users running Podman, updating to a fixed version of Podman that addresses this issue is recommended. Since this is a local attack vector, restricting access to Podman on Windows systems can reduce risk.

Description

A command injection vulnerability exists in Podman's HyperV machine backend on Windows. An attacker able to manipulate the VM image path can execute arbitrary PowerShell commands, potentially leading to unauthorized system-level code execution. This flaw does not affect Red Hat Enterprise Linux or OpenShift Container Platform, as the vulnerable code path is exclusive to Windows and not used on Red Hat products.
