AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated RPM packages for Python 3.13 in Red Hat Hardened Images that address this vulnerability. Users should apply these updates to remediate the issue. No alternative mitigations are currently recommended or meet Red Hat's criteria for ease of use, applicability, and stability. Therefore, applying the official update is the primary remediation step.

Description

A Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in Python's http.cookies module, specifically in the Morsel.js_output() function, which fails to properly neutralize the </script> HTML sequence. This flaw could allow remote attackers to inject malicious scripts into web pages, potentially leading to information disclosure or arbitrary code execution in users' browsers. The issue affects Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs containing Python 3.13 packages. Red Hat has released an update including fixed RPMs for python3.13 and related packages. No direct mitigation other than applying the update is currently recommended by Red Hat.
