What to do

AI-suggested

A fix is available via updated Red Hat Hardened Images RPM packages including SQLite 3.53.4-1.hum1 and related components. Users should apply these updates to remediate the vulnerability. Since the sqlar extension is not enabled by default in Red Hat Enterprise Linux, systems not using this extension are not affected. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the update.

Description

A buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the SQLite sqlar extension's uncompression functions. Exploitation requires local user interaction with specially crafted archive data processed by the non-default sqlar extension, potentially causing a denial of service (DoS) by crashing the affected process. The vulnerability does not impact data integrity, confidentiality, or the underlying operating system, and the sqlar extension is not loaded by default in standard Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
