Red Hat has released updated RPM packages (e.g., nodejs25-25.9.0-1.hum1) that fix this issue. Applying these updates is the recommended remediation. Systems configured according to Red Hat guidelines that automatically restart services on process crashes mitigate availability impact. No other effective mitigations meeting Red Hat criteria are currently available.
Description
A vulnerability in Node.js TLS error handling allows remote attackers to cause denial of service by crashing or exhausting resources of a TLS server when using PSK or ALPN callbacks. Uncaught synchronous exceptions during these callbacks bypass standard TLS error handling, leading to process termination or resource leaks. Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs have been updated to address this issue. Systems configured per Red Hat guidelines mitigate availability impact by restarting services on crash.
