AI-suggested
A security update is available that fixes this vulnerability in the libXtst package (version 1.2.5-5.3.hum1). Users should apply this update to Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs to remediate the issue. No effective mitigation other than applying the update is currently available or meets Red Hat's criteria for deployment. Typical environments where clients only connect to trusted local X servers are substantially mitigated by default.
Description
A denial of service vulnerability exists in libXtst where a malicious X server can send malformed RECORD EnableContext replies to a connected client, causing the client to enter an infinite loop and become unresponsive. This affects X11 client applications connected to untrusted or compromised X servers. The vulnerability is rated moderate due to the limited attack scope and the requirement for user interaction. Typical Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments are substantially mitigated as clients usually communicate with trusted local display servers. No data confidentiality or system integrity compromise occurs.
