What to do
AI-suggested
A security update is available for Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs including libssh2 version 1.11.1-10.1.hum1. Users should apply this update to remediate the vulnerability. Additionally, applications should connect only to trusted and verified SSH servers to reduce exposure. Standard system memory defenses may help mitigate crashes caused by malformed server responses. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and newer are not affected and require no action.
Description
A vulnerability in libssh2 allows a malicious SSH server to send a malformed public key response, causing improper memory cleanup. This can lead to client application crashes or information leakage. The flaw affects Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs containing libssh2. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and newer are not affected as they do not ship libssh2. The vulnerability requires interaction with a malicious or compromised SSH server, limiting exposure to untrusted connections.
