Red Hat has released updated python3.11 RPM packages (version 3.11.15-4.3.hum1) that fix this vulnerability. Users of Red Hat Hardened Images should apply these updates promptly to remediate the issue. No alternative mitigations meeting Red Hat's criteria for ease of use and applicability are currently available. Refer to Red Hat's advisory and update repositories for detailed instructions on applying the fix.
Description
A security flaw was found in Python's http.cookies module used in Red Hat Hardened Images. The Morsel.js_output() function does not properly neutralize the </script> HTML sequence, which could allow remote attackers to inject malicious JavaScript into web pages. This vulnerability can lead to Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks, potentially causing information disclosure or arbitrary code execution in the user's browser. Red Hat has released updated python3.11 RPM packages addressing this issue. No alternative mitigations meeting Red Hat's criteria are currently available.
