Description

Redis is an advanced key-value store. It is often referred to as a data-structure server since keys can contain strings, hashes, lists, sets, and sorted sets. For performance, Redis works with an in-memory data set. You can persist it either by dumping the data set to disk every once in a while, or by appending each command to a log. Security Fix(es): * redis: Redis Unauthenticated Denial of Service (CVE-2025-48367) * redis: Redis Hyperloglog Out-of-Bounds Write Vulnerability (CVE-2025-32023) For more details about the security issue(s), including the impact, a CVSS score, acknowledgments, and other related information, refer to the CVE page(s) listed in the References section.

Technical Analysis

The advisory covers two security issues in Redis 6 within Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4. CVE-2025-48367 is an unauthenticated denial of service vulnerability, and CVE-2025-32023 is an out-of-bounds write vulnerability related to the Hyperloglog data structure. Both vulnerabilities could impact the stability and security of Redis instances. Red Hat has released updated Redis 6.0.9 packages for affected variants of RHEL 8.4 to address these issues. The advisory references Red Hat Bugzilla entries for the fixes and directs users to official update instructions.

Potential Impact

The vulnerabilities could allow an unauthenticated attacker to cause denial of service or potentially corrupt memory via out-of-bounds writes, impacting Redis service availability and integrity. The advisory classifies the update as important, indicating a high security impact but does not provide CVSS scores. There are no reports of active exploitation in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

Red Hat has released updated Redis 6.0.9 packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 variants that fix these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the provided security update promptly following Red Hat's official guidance at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the update.
