Red Hat has released updated resource-agents packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 High Availability Advanced Update Support and Extended Life Cycle Long Life Add-On. Applying these official updates will remediate the vulnerability. Users should follow Red Hat's guidance on applying these updates as detailed in their advisory and article https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No other mitigation or workaround is indicated.
Description
A security update for the resource-agents packages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux addresses a denial of service vulnerability in the pyasn1 library caused by crafted ASN.1 REAL values (CVE-2026-59886). The resource-agents provide scripts for high-availability service managers such as Pacemaker and RGManager. This vulnerability could allow denial of service conditions when processing malicious ASN.1 data. Red Hat has released updated packages for affected Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 High Availability variants to remediate this issue.
