AI-suggested
Red Hat states that mitigation options either do not exist or do not meet their criteria for ease of use, deployment, applicability, or stability. Users should monitor Red Hat advisories for updates and consider risk management strategies until a fix is released. Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform's golang 1.23 builder container does not include the affected code, which may reduce exposure in some environments.
Description
CVE-2025-22874 is a vulnerability in Go's crypto/x509 package that allows improper certificate validation. Specifically, when VerifyOptions.KeyUsages includes ExtKeyUsageAny, certificate chains containing policy graphs may bypass certificate policy validation. This flaw can enable attackers to trick systems into accepting invalid certificates, potentially allowing spoofing attacks and weakening system integrity. Confidentiality and availability are not affected. The vulnerability affects Red Hat Trusted Artifact Signer used with OpenShift Container Platform versions 4.15 through 4.19. No fix is currently available, and mitigation options do not meet Red Hat's criteria for ease of use and deployment.
