AI-suggested

Currently, no mitigation is available for this vulnerability. Monitor Red Hat advisories for patch availability. Until then, avoid processing untrusted template files with certtool to reduce risk.

Description

A heap-buffer-overflow (off-by-one) vulnerability exists in the GnuTLS certtool utility's template parsing logic. This flaw allows an attacker to cause an out-of-bounds NULL pointer write, leading to memory corruption and a denial-of-service (DoS) crash of the application. The issue affects the gnutls-utils package but not the core GnuTLS library. No mitigation is currently available, and the vulnerability is rated as moderate severity by Red Hat.
