Red Hat advises that only products using the specific non-standard verifier configuration are affected. Users should review their JWT verification configurations to ensure they do not accept both symmetric and asymmetric algorithms simultaneously or use the issuer's public key as an HMAC secret. Customers with Red Hat Technical Account Managers can seek direct guidance.

Description

A vulnerability in the PyJWT library used by Red Hat Trusted Artifact Signer (RHTAS) allows an attacker to forge JSON Web Tokens (JWTs) by exploiting improper validation of JSON Web Keys (JWK) when both symmetric (HMAC) and asymmetric algorithms are accepted. This can lead to authentication bypass and unauthorized access if the verifier is misconfigured to accept the issuer's public key as the HMAC secret. Red Hat products are affected only if they use this specific non-standard verifier configuration.
