Red Hat advises that applications processing untrusted HTML input must implement strict input sanitization and ensure all output is properly encoded before rendering. Deploying a comprehensive Content Security Policy (CSP) can further restrict script execution and reduce the attack surface. Administrators should review application configurations to confirm adequate protection against XSS attacks.
Description
A vulnerability (CVE-2026-25681) exists in the golang.org/x/net/html package used by Red Hat Trusted Artifact Signer (RHTAS) and potentially other Red Hat products that process untrusted HTML. The flaw allows specially crafted HTML to bypass input sanitization during parsing and rendering, enabling Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks that may lead to arbitrary code execution. This affects Red Hat products using the vulnerable component without additional output encoding or strong content security policies. Mitigation involves strict input sanitization, proper output encoding, and deploying Content Security Policies (CSP).
