AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated rsyslog packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.6 that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the security update as described in the Red Hat advisory (RHSA-2026:91582) to remediate these issues. Detailed update instructions are available at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official patches.
Description
Two security vulnerabilities have been identified in the rsyslog packages used in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.6. One is a configuration-dependent issue in the optional imptcp input module that can allow an unauthenticated remote peer to crash the rsyslog daemon (CVE-2026-19654). The other is a denial of service vulnerability caused by a heap buffer overflow in the RainerScript replace() function (CVE-2026-78002). These issues can lead to denial of service conditions by crashing or destabilizing the rsyslog service.
