AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated tftp packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 that fix this vulnerability. Users should apply the security update as described in Red Hat advisory RHSA-2026:80663 and the referenced article https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. Applying this update will remediate the issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor.

Description

A denial of service vulnerability exists in the tftp-hpa component of the Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) implementation used in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9. This issue is caused by an out-of-bounds read/write in the remap engine. The vulnerability affects both the tftp client and server packages, which facilitate file transfers to and from remote machines, typically for booting diskless workstations. Red Hat has released an update to address this issue.
