AI-suggested
Red Hat has released an official security update for the tuned package in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 Extended Update Support. Users should apply the updated tuned packages (e.g., tuned-2.22.1-3.el9_4) as provided in the Red Hat advisory RHSA-2025:1785. Detailed update instructions are available at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. Applying this update resolves the vulnerability.
Description
A security update for the tuned package in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 addresses an improper sanitization vulnerability in the instance_name parameter of the instance_create() method (CVE-2024-52337). This vulnerability has been rated as having a moderate security impact by Red Hat Product Security. The tuned service adjusts system settings based on selected profiles, and improper input sanitization could potentially lead to security issues. A fixed version is available as part of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 Extended Update Support.
