Red Hat has released official updates for wget in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 and its variants that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the provided patches as detailed in the Red Hat advisory RHSA-2026:62142. No additional mitigation actions are indicated beyond applying the official update.
Description
Two security vulnerabilities have been identified in the GNU Wget utility provided by Red Hat. The first is a heap buffer overflow caused by a server-supplied filename leading to memory corruption (CVE-2026-58471). The second allows arbitrary code execution or denial of service via a crafted HTML attribute (CVE-2026-58472). Red Hat has released an update for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 to address these issues along with other bug fixes and enhancements.
