RedisTimeSeries RESTORE invalid memory access may allow remote code execution (CVE-2026-25588)

Source: GCVE Database
Product: redis

Description

RedisTimeSeries versions prior to 1.12.14 contain a vulnerability in the RESTORE command handling that allows an authenticated attacker with RESTORE permission to supply a crafted serialized payload. This triggers invalid memory access and may lead to remote code execution. The issue is patched in version 1.12.14. A workaround is to restrict RESTORE command access via ACL rules.

Technical Analysis

RedisTimeSeries, a Redis module for time-series data, improperly validates serialized values processed through the Redis RESTORE command in all versions before 1.12.14. An authenticated attacker with permission to execute RESTORE can provide a crafted serialized payload that causes invalid memory access, potentially resulting in remote code execution. The vulnerability has been patched in RedisTimeSeries version 1.12.14. Restricting RESTORE command access with ACL rules can serve as a temporary mitigation.

Potential Impact

An attacker with authentication and RESTORE command permission on a Redis server running a vulnerable RedisTimeSeries module can exploit this flaw to execute arbitrary code remotely. This elevates the risk of full system compromise or unauthorized control of the Redis instance.

Mitigation Recommendations

Apply the official patch by upgrading RedisTimeSeries to version 1.12.14 or later. Until patched, restrict access to the RESTORE command using ACL rules to prevent exploitation.
