Description
A critical vulnerability exists in the SAIL image processing library prior to commit 36aa5c7ec8a2bb35f6fb867a1177a6f141156b02. The XWD codec incorrectly handles pixel format resolution, leading to out-of-bounds memory access during byte-swapping when pixmap_depth and bits_per_pixel values are inconsistent. This flaw can cause memory corruption with high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The issue is distinct from a previously reported vulnerability (CVE-2026-27168) and has been patched in the referenced commit.
