AI-suggested
A fixed version is available starting from Semantic MediaWiki 7.3.1. Users should upgrade to version 7.3.1 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No vendor advisory or patch link was provided in the input, so confirm patch availability from official Semantic MediaWiki sources before upgrading. Until patched, administrators should avoid clicking untrusted or unexpected Special:SMWAdmin ID lookup links.
Description
Semantic MediaWiki versions from 3.1.0 up to but not including 7.3.1 contain a reflected cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the Special:SMWAdmin ID lookup feature. This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to inject malicious markup via the unescaped 'id' parameter. By tricking an administrator into clicking a crafted link, attackers can bypass the auto-satisfied edit-token check and execute scripts within the administrator's session, potentially performing privileged actions.
