AI-suggested
Users should upgrade to Apache Camel version 4.23.0 or, if on the 4.22.x stream, to 4.22.2, where the vulnerability is fixed. For environments unable to upgrade immediately, it is recommended to place authentication in front of the A2A push notification configuration path to prevent untrusted callers from registering webhook URLs. Additionally, network-level egress restrictions should deny outbound traffic to the fc00::/7 IPv6 range. Deployments not requiring IPv6 can start the JVM with the -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true option to avoid the vulnerable address class. Note that the default configuration allowLocalWebhookUrls=false does not by itself mitigate this issue.
Description
A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability exists in the Apache Camel A2A component versions from 4.21.0 before 4.22.2. The issue arises from inconsistent classification of webhook host addresses, allowing an attacker-controlled webhook URL to cause the Camel process to make blind outbound HTTPS requests to internal IPv6 unique local addresses (fc00::/7). This could lead to unauthorized internal network access with medium severity impact. The vulnerability is fixed in Apache Camel versions 4.22.2 and 4.23.0.
